GGBFS
Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag for high-durability concrete
About GGBFS
Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) is a latent hydraulic binder produced by quenching molten iron slag from a blast furnace in water or steam. When ground to cement fineness and activated by alkalis or Portland cement, GGBFS develops significant cementitious properties. It substantially reduces permeability, improves resistance to sulphate attack and chloride ingress, and lowers heat of hydration.
Key Applications
- High-performance concrete (HPC)
- Marine and waterfront structures
- Mass concrete (dams, foundations)
- Ground improvement and grouting
- Slag cement (Portland Slag Cement)
